Driving Lessons

LEARNING TO DRIVE

Getting Started

You must be 17 to learn to drive and have a provisional driving licence. You can obtain a licence by sending a completed D1 form (available at Post Offices), your passport or birth certificate and a passport – sized photo.

Apply up to three months before you are 17 and you could be driving on your birthday.

How many lessons will I need?

Our instructors are experienced in assessing your driving standard and estimating how many lessons you’re likely to need.

Your rate of learning new driving skills will ultimately dictate the pace and quantity of lessons you take. The national average is 45 hours of professional tuition and 22 hours of private practise.

Double lessons are likely to help you to learn faster.

The Driving Syllabus

AIM2DRIVE instructors follow the Driving Standards Agency’s syllabus to ensure your course of lessons follows a systematic and structured programme.

You receive regular feedback on your performance and are assessed frequently to check your progress.

Our philosophy is that you should not take a driving test unless you and your instructor are confident that you have the skills and experience to pass it.
